THE MANIFESTO

A spectre is haunting the United States of America: the spectre of Communism. All the powers of the old order have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise it: the senator and the shareholder, the cable news desk and the hedge fund, the landlord and the app that collects his rent.

Where two workers compare their pay, it is called envy. Where a nurse asks why the hospital turns a profit she could never afford to be sick inside of, it is called radical. Where anyone says out loud that a person working forty hours ought to be able to keep a roof over their head, they reach for the word and say it like a curse.

Very well. We will take the word.

We hold these things to be plain. That the people who do the work should own what the work makes. That a home is a place to live before it is an asset class. That a country capable of rescuing a bank over a single weekend can feed its children on a Tuesday. That no one's labor should make another man rich enough to leave the planet.

The workers of this website hold no shares, no board seat, and no ticker symbol. We have a domain name, a text editor, and a few hours that were not sold to anybody. It is a small beginning. Every beginning is small.

Workers of the world, unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains, your rent, and your subscription fees.

THE FIVE YEAR PLAN

A programme of transitional demands. Every one of them ships under the present system, and not one of them will ever merge upstream, which is exactly why they are written this way.

• ☐ Year one: fork the party. Labour has been a dependency of two capitalist parties for a century and been repaid with flat wages and a deprecated pension. Drop them both. Build a workers' party on the unions, running its own candidates, with commit rights held by the membership rather than the donors.
• ☐ Year two: root belongs to the ranks. Every official elected, every mandate revocable at any moment, every salary pinned to the average wage of the members they speak for. Permanent admin privileges are how a leadership stops reading the issues and starts closing them.
• ☐ Year three: a sliding scale of wages and hours. Pay indexed to the real cost of living, so a raise is not silently rolled back at the grocery store. The work that exists load-balanced across every pair of hands that needs it, at no cut in pay. Unemployment is not a fault in the worker; it is a scheduler nobody voted for.
• ☐ Year four: open the books. Any firm pleading poverty against a wage claim publishes its accounts to the people who generated the revenue. Where it shutters the plant anyway, the workers keep it running. There is no arguing with an audit log.
• ☐ Year five: no socialism on a single node. A revolution that halts at the border has agreed to run isolated, and isolated is how a system gets starved out. Capital replicates into every region on earth and expects us to organise one state at a time. The task is distributed or it does not survive.

The plan is ahead of schedule. The plan has always been ahead of schedule.
